Sirius Talks Freestyling, Real Music & Representing San Antonio (2021 Interview)

San Antonio Hip-Hop artist Sirius keeps his music authentic, raw, and created in the moment. With a freestyle-heavy creative process and a mindset rooted in motivation and growth, Sirius represents the city with genuine energy and street perspective. In this 2021 interview with 10OutOf10Promos, he breaks down his inspirations, creative style, and what drives him forward.

10OutOf10Promos: What first got you into music?

Sirius: Listening to rap for the first time always intrigued me. As I got older, I fell in love with freestyling. It also helped me get through some dark times.

10OutOf10Promos: Who inspired you to make music?

Sirius: I would have to say 50 Cent and my brother.

10OutOf10Promos: How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Sirius: I try to create music that’s real to myself and the listener. You’re always going to get something genuine from me — whether it’s trap music for the streets, club music to turn up to, or laid-back vibes to chill to.

10OutOf10Promos: What is your creative process like?

Sirius: I get in the studio and go. I don’t write anything down — I freestyle all of my music. Sometimes I remember parts and add on as I go, but everything I make is created that day in the studio.

10OutOf10Promos: Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Sirius: Any and all artists here in the city.

10OutOf10Promos: If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?

Sirius: Gunna

10OutOf10Promos: What is one message you would give to your fans?

Sirius: Never be content with your position.

10OutOf10Promos: What is the most useless talent you have?

Sirius: Remembering useless information.

10OutOf10Promos: Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

Sirius: You can catch me freestyling in the shower.

10OutOf10Promos: What would you be doing right now if it wasn’t for your music career?

Sirius: Coaching.

10OutOf10Promos: Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

Sirius: Favorite Venue – Element

Least Favorite – None

May 22nd at Epic Bar — my label/company’s first showcase.

10OutOf10Promos: How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music business?

Sirius: It’s impacted the game in a significant way. Music can now be distributed and streamed from literally anywhere. It gives artists their own platform. Back in the day, all we had was radio play.

10OutOf10Promos: What is your favorite song to perform?

Sirius: “Yung Rich Ni*** Freestyle”

10OutOf10Promos: Which famous musicians do you admire?

Sirius: 50 Cent

10OutOf10Promos: What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

Sirius: Nothing major. I got stopped with some chronic once, but I was blessed. During my time running the streets, I never really got into serious trouble with the law.

10OutOf10Promos: What is the best advice you’ve been given?

Sirius: Stay motivated. Never lose sight of your goals.

10OutOf10Promos: If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

Sirius: Make it easier to break into the business.

10OutOf10Promos: What’s next for you?

Sirius: Brand distribution, merchandise for sale, videos as well. It’s a big year for E.$.N.
